The Autumn 2022 Situation

All businesses will be looking at this autumn thinking, what else can be thrown at us?

We’ve had to survive the Covid Pandemic, the ripple effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and now interest rates are climbing, and the energy prices are going up in October and then again in January and probably every quarter until the global crisis is resolved.

This all means that money is going to get tighter and tighter. So, staying on top of the bills is going to be a combination of cutting more costs and trying to win more business.

You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s just not worth it, but you should be thinking “I’ll not be beaten, and I’ll be the stronger for it when we all come out the other side.”

This is what we should all do

  • Make a financial plan
    • Project your business finances through the next 2 financial years. If you can see a projected loss at the end of the two-year period, set about manipulating the figures until you don’t.
  • Devise a marketing strategy to achieve the growth that your finance plan dictates is necessary.

Making a Marketing Strategy

The first thing to say is that the implementation of this plan needs to start yesterday. In other words, you have to work as though your life depends on it, because if this is your only source of income, it does.

Remember when the business was only just starting, you put everything into getting it going. Now you will have to do the same level of effort again.

Plan the periods during the week which you dedicate to marketing and stick to it. It is hard, but it’ll be worth it.

A lot of businesses will go to the wall and only those who have put in the effort will survive and be in a much stronger position than they were before all this started.

BHT Direct Marketing

You will want to get quick responses to your marketing and so direct marketing is the only effective route to take.

Advertising, or waiting for the website to kick in just won’t hack it in the time period we’re talking about.

When Covid was at its height, BHT decided that telemarketing, our original bread and butter, was a thing of the past.
