The Autumn 2022 Situation
All businesses will be looking at this autumn thinking, what else can be thrown at us?
We’ve had to survive the Covid Pandemic, the ripple effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and now interest rates are climbing, and the energy prices are going up in October and then again in January and probably every quarter until the global crisis is resolved.
This all means that money is going to get tighter and tighter. So, staying on top of the bills is going to be a combination of cutting more costs and trying to win more business.
You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s just not worth it, but you should be thinking “I’ll not be beaten, and I’ll be the stronger for it when we all come out the other side.”
This is what we should all do
- Make a financial plan
- Project your business finances through the next 2 financial years. If you can see a projected loss at the end of the two-year period, set about manipulating the figures until you don’t.
- Devise a marketing strategy to achieve the growth that your finance plan dictates is necessary.
Making a Marketing Strategy
The first thing to say is that the implementation of this plan needs to start yesterday. In other words, you have to work as though your life depends on it, because if this is your only source of income, it does.
Remember when the business was only just starting, you put everything into getting it going. Now you will have to do the same level of effort again.
Plan the periods during the week which you dedicate to marketing and stick to it. It is hard, but it’ll be worth it.
A lot of businesses will go to the wall and only those who have put in the effort will survive and be in a much stronger position than they were before all this started.
BHT Direct Marketing
You will want to get quick responses to your marketing and so direct marketing is the only effective route to take.
Advertising, or waiting for the website to kick in just won’t hack it in the time period we’re talking about.
When Covid was at its height, BHT decided that telemarketing, our original bread and butter, was a thing of the past.
People were and still are working at home and so trying to talk to them on the telephone was, and is, extremely difficult, if not impossible. Even if you did try it would not give a reasonable ROI for you or any client.
Consequently, we have done what we all should do and adapted to the times. We invented Dig-e-Tel which is a combination of digital marketing, email and telephone conversations. It is working well.
We tested it for ourselves, back in 2020 and won our first contract within 4 months. That client asked us to use the same technique for them and within 3 months we won their next client.
Dig-e-Tel uses the power of LinkedIn to find the right people in the right companies in the right geographic area who are interested in what is being promoted.
We also combine blog writing and social media messages with it to ensure that the website gets more and more traffic, and more and more people are aware of what we do.
This totally rounded direct market approach works and we are confident that we will enter the future as a stronger marketing agency than when we entered this awkward time.
If you are worried about your future and feel that what we do could help you, we can either tell you how to do it or do it for you.
It isn’t rocket science it just takes time and perseverance.
Good luck, and see you on the other side.
